We're Already In The Metaverse! (week #5)

 Afraid of the METAVERSE

We're Already Here!

    For the past year or so, we've heard this word..."Metaverse." To most people, it is something new, different and, of course, virtual. And if you're from an area like Northeastern Pennsylvania like me, you know that the people here DO NOT like change. But what if I told you that everyday mostly everyone is already in the metaverse? We've been doing it for years, but no one put a name to it. Do you have a Facebook or Snapchat avatar? If you do, congratulations, you are in the metaverse! Do you play video games and purchase in-game skins, characters or weapons? You're in the metaverse! Or perhaps you have purchased or downloaded an e-book, movie or something new like an NFT, well, well, well...look who's actively participating in the metaverse! 

    As we all lived through the struggles and obstacles of COVID-19, you may have not known it, but we turned to the metaverse for help. School and work was all taken to online. If you wanted to purchase non-essential items you went online. It may have not seemed so different, but it changed the world we live in today. It was an eye opening experience to some companies that maybe work-from-home was more productive than in-person work. Multiple friends and family of mine now work-from-home and they absolutely love it! The metaverse now more than ever is prevalent in our everyday lives and I am ready to use it to my advantage in the world of social media. 

    The Metaverse is an opportunity to develop a virtual community that many brands like Nike, Gucci, Disney and more have already started to get the ball rolling. By utilizing the Metaverse, there's is a whole new digital marketing strategy to be evolved. Target markets will now be able to socialize, collaborate and explore products all through augmented/virtual reality. Brick-and-mortar and online shopping can now collide with each other for a greater outcome. A customer can now try on shoes or clothing virtually then either chose to pick up in-store or order it through the online store. Also, it is a possibility that if you buy tangible clothing from a brick-and-mortar, you will be able to have that piece of clothing for your digital avatar in the metaverse, where you can discuss your new outfit with other people's avatars. Getting a jumpstart on utilizing tools to build your brand in the metaverse is a great idea to expand your horizon in digital marketing. So what are you waiting for?
